REPOSTAGEM: Kick Axe - Discografia [1984 - 2004]

Tudo começou em 1976, quando Larry Gillstrom (guitarra), Gary Langen (bateria e vocais) e Victor Langen (baixo) fundaram uma banda chamada Hobbit, que tocava covers de Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd e The Who. Após mudar de nome para Kick Axe e adicionar mais um guitarrista, Raymond Arthur Harvey, a trio fez suas primeiras gravações, que foram descartadas. Em 1979, Brian Gillstrom entrou no lugar de Gary Langen e um novo vocalista, Charles McNary, foi adicionado ao grupo. Com essa formação, o Kick Axé grava o compacto “Weekend Ride”. Em 1982, McNary deu adeus à banda em seu lugar entrou o vocalista George Criston. No ano seguinte, o grupo fez sua primeira turnê pelo Canadá abrindo para o Helix.

O primeiro álbum do Kick Axe, “Vices”, chegou às lojas em 1984, trazendo os hits “Heavy Metal Shuffle” e “On The Road To Rock”. O sucesso foi instantâneo – “Vices” vendeu cerca de 250 mil cópias por todo o mundo. No mesmo ano, a música “30 Days In The Hole” (originalmente gravada pelo Humble Pie) fez parte da trilha sonora do filme “Up The Creek”. Logo depois, o LP promocional “Captured Live!” mostrou a todos como a banda era potente ao vivo. Um ano mais tarde, “Welcome To The Club” apresentou aos fãs recém-conquistados um Kick Axe mais suave, menos Metal, o que desapontou por um lado, mas os projetou internacionalmente por outro, sobretudo graças ao clipe de “With A Little Help From My Friends” (originalmente gravada pelos Beatles). Em 1986, duas canções do grupo foram lançadas na trilha sonora do filme “Transformers”. Ainda naquele ano, Raymond Arthur Harvey resolveu sair da banda. No final de 1986, o Kick Axe lançou “Rock The World”, uma tentativa de voltar às raízes metálicas de “Vices”. Não deu certo. Só restou ao quarteto, falido, encerrar suas atividades de forma amigável dois anos mais tarde.

Para a surpresa de todos, o Kick Axe voltou à ativa em 2003, com Gary Langen nos vocais e em 2004 lançou “IV”, um disco maduro de Hard Rock melódico. O sucesso da volta fez com que o álbum “Rock The World” fosse re-lançado em 2005, com nova arte e uma faixa bônus. Desde então, nenhuma novidade. Com vocês a discografia do Kick Axe!
